Wind Power Plant

Energy is an important part in people's lives because almost all human activity always requires energy. For example, for lighting, industrial processes or for moving household electrical energy required to move the vehicle either two-wheel or four-needed gasoline, and many other appliances around the lives of people who need the energy. Most of the energy used in Indonesia comes from fossil energy in the form of oil and gas. Dependence on fossil fuels has at least three serious threats, namely:
  1. Depletion of petroleum reserves.
  2. Increase / rate volatility due to greater demand from oil production.
  3. Polluting greenhouse gases (mainly CO2) from burning fossil fuels.
CO2 levels are now referred to as the highest for 125 years, the adverse effect of CO2 on global warming has been agreed upon by almost all walks of life. This poses a serious threat to the lives of living beings on earth. Therefore, the development and implementation of renewable fuels that are environmentally friendly need to get serious attention from various countries. The government actually has prepared regulations to reduce dependence on fossil fuels (eg, Public Policy Energy Sector (KUBE) of 1980 and the Decree of the Minister of Mines and Energy No.. 996.K / 43 / MPE / 1999 on the prioritization of the use of renewable fuels for the production of electricity be bought PLN). Unfortunately, at the level of implementation have not seen any serious and systematic efforts to implement renewable energy to substitute for fossil fuels. (Yuli Setyo: 2005)

Wind is a form of energy that is available in nature, Wind Power Plant to convert wind energy into electrical energy using wind turbines or windmills. The way it works is quite simple, the wind energy turbine wind, continued to rotate the rear rotor on a wind turbine generator, which will produce electrical energy. Electrical energy will usually be stored into the battery before it can be utilized.
Utilization of wind energy is not new to mankind. Since 2000 years ago technology resource utilization wind and water has been known to man in the form of windmills (wind mills). In addition to environmentally friendly energy sources is also always available at any time and have a profitable business future. Now the most developed countries in Europe and the United States took advantage of this energy source. In the early days of its development, wind energy technologies more widely used as replacement of human labor in agriculture and manufacturing, so now with the new technologies and materials, man-made wind turbines to generate clean electric energy, whether for lighting, heat or power generation sources for household appliances. According to data from the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA), to date there have been about 20,000 wind turbines around the world are used to generate electricity. Most turbines are operated in such a special land called "wind farms" (wind farm).

In European countries, the utilization of renewable energy sources expected to achieve 8% of energy demand in 2005. Wind energy to be one alternative that has been chosen and also serves to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) produced by the energy source earlier. Seven years, the wind energy capacity installed in Europe surged by 40% per year and the current capacity can meet the electricity needs of more than 5 million households. Wind energy industry expected to have a capacity of 40,000 MW (mega watts), which can meet the electricity needs for 50 million heads of families in 2010.

Wind energy is a relatively clean energy and environmentally friendly because it does not produce carbon dioxide (CO2) or other gases that contribute to global warming, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides (gases that cause acid rain). This energy does not produce any waste that is harmful to the environment or humans. However, please remember that no matter how small all forms of energy production always has an effect on the environment. It's just that the effects of wind turbines is very low, localized and manageable. In addition, the turbine or windmill has a charm of its own and become an interesting tourist attractions, such as for example windmills in the Netherlands.
